Hypnosis is a safe, powerful technique creating a deeply relaxed state of the body and mind. 

The hypnotherapist guides you into a relaxed hypnotic trance by the sound of their voice.   

Hypnotic trance is a perfectly natural state that we often go into during our everyday lives, for example when reading a book, watching television, day dreaming; where we feel like we 'switch off' from the world around us for a few minutes.  

You cannot get stuck in hypnosis 

You do not become unconscious in hypnosis 

You cannot, at any time, be made to do things you do not want to do if hypnotised. 

You do not go to sleep 

You are under no-one's power, nobody can take control of you whilst in hypnosis 

You can voluntarily leave the hypnotic state whenever you wish to by opening your eyes 

You cannot leave your body 

You cannot 'lose' your mind in hypnosis 

Relaxing 

Hypnosis is a very pleasant, relaxing state. You will not lose awareness or control, in fact your awareness is heightened.  

You cannot be hypnotised against your will. Your mind however will be a little more suggestible so that when the hypnotherapist offers positive suggestions if you deem those suggestions to be acceptable to you, your mind will happily accept them. You will never accept a suggestion that you disagree with.  

Feelings and sensations

Trance feels different to everybody, most people describe feelings of relaxation. There is no wrong or right way. 

Your eyes and / or eyelids may flutter, flicker  

You might feel a small tingling sensation in your face 

Your body may feel very heavy or very light  

You may feel slightly chilly whilst in hypnosis
